Information Collected From Users

Every time you stop by the Site, we automatically collect your Internet Service Provider’s address, the web page from which you came, and a record of your activity on our Site. We also keep your email address if you ask a question, submit a review, register to become part of our eHerd, join in the fun of one of our promotional contests, purchase products on our Site, or participate in any other correspondence through our Site.

Our Site uses the following Google Analytics features for advertising: Remarketing, Google Display Network Impression Reporting, the DoubleClick Campaign Manager integration, and Google Analytics Demographics and Interest Reporting. You may opt-out of Google Analytics for Display Advertising and customize Google Display Network ads using Ads Settings.

Third-party vendors, including Google, show ads for our Site on sites across the Internet.

Murdoch’s does not facilitate the merging of personally-identifiable information with non-personally identifiable information previously collected from Display Advertising features that is based on the DoubleClick cookie unless we have notice of and your prior affirmative (i.e., opt-in) consent to, that merger.

At your initiation, you may prevent your data from being collected and used in Google Analytics by downloading and installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Our Site uses data from Google’s Interest-based advertising or 3rd-party audience data (such as age, gender, and interests) with Google Analytics.

When you make a purchase or register an account on the Site, Murdoch’s collects your billing and shipping address including your name, email address, billing address, shipping address, phone number, credit card number, and any other information necessary to process your order.

Cookies

A “Cookie” is a tiny data file stored in your computer. Cookies make web-surfing easier for you by saving your information while you’re at a Site. Murdoch’s will place a unique identifier in the Cookie and use it to connect your computer with the information we store for you in our database. In our database, we store things like your account preferences, the items you add to your shopping bucket, user-specific information on the pages you visit, and previous visits to our Site. Murdoch’s cookies do not collect any credit card information.

You may be able to set your Internet Web browser to notify you when you receive a cookie or to prevent cookies from being sent. If you prevent a cookie from being sent, you may limit the functionality Murdoch’s can provide you when you visit our Site.

In addition to cookies, our servers automatically collect data about your server’s Internet address when you visit our Site. This information, known as Internet Protocol Address, or “IP Address”, is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer by your Internet service provider whenever you are on the Internet. When you view pages from our Site, our servers may record your IP Address and sometimes your domain name. We may also record the page that linked you to us and related information including any ads on which you may have clicked.

Murdoch’s and third-party vendors, including Google, use first-party cookies (such as the Google Analytics cookie or Google Trusted Store cookie) and third-party cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) together to:

  • Inform, optimize, and serve ads based on your past visits to our Site
  • Report how your ad impressions, other uses of ad services, and interactions with these ad impressions and ad services are related to visits to our Site

This information is collected to give you a better shopping experience such as product recommendations and web content tailored to your interests. As always, your information is stored in a safe and secure database.

Use of Information/Opt-Out

The information gathered on our Site allows us to process your purchases, confirm your orders, customize the content and layout of our Site, notify you about updates to our Site, respond to questions or comments, administer a contest or sweepstakes, and provide you with great marketing information.

If you provide us with your email address and let us know that you’d like to receive communications from us, our secure databases allow us to send you periodic emails about our new products and services, discounts and special promotions, and even our upcoming events. (Customers who place orders on our Site are automatically added to our periodic email list.) If you do not wish to receive emails from us, you can opt out at www.murdochs.com/unsubscribe. We will then only send confirmation emails when you make a purchase or if we have questions about your purchase.

If you need to update any information you have provided us, you may do so by logging into your account at www.murdochs.com and editing your profile. You may also email us at customerservice@murdochs.com, and we will take care of your request.

If at any time you do not want to receive offers and/or circulars from us by mail, you can always remove yourself from our mailing list by sending an email to customerservice@murdochs.com, indicating "NO SNAIL MAIL" in the subject line along with your name, address, and zip code in the body of the message. Please note that our mailings are prepared in advance of their being sent. Although we will promptly remove your name from our mailing list upon receiving your request, you may still receive mailings from us that had been initiated prior to your name being removed from our list.

Security

Our Site has appropriate security measures in place to protect against the loss, misuse, and the alteration of information that we have collected from you. In most Web browsers, when Users place an order, they will see a solid key icon or a locked padlock icon. This lets you know that the Murdoch’s Site is protected by a secure sockets layer, otherwise known as SSL. This encrypts our User’s information before it is sent to us when making a purchase, signing in, or editing your account settings. Pages requesting your information should always have one of these icons. If you don’t see it, please call us at 855-232-9104 to finish your transaction over the phone.

In addition, we don’t save your credit card information on our servers. If someone should get ahold of your account login information, they won’t be able to view your credit card information. We reveal only the last four digits of your credit card numbers when confirming an order. We securely transmit the entire credit card number to the appropriate credit card company during order processing. If you choose to have us remember a credit card for future purchases, we do store a credit card token that is issued by our credit card processor. You will still need the security code on the back of the physical card to make a purchase with a saved credit card token. Unfortunately, no matter how hard we try, no system is perfect. Murdoch’s makes no warranties or representations in regard to the sufficiency of our security measures. We can’t be responsible for any actual or consequential damages resulting from a lapse in compliance with this Privacy Policy because of a security breach, technical malfunction, or otherwise. Keep in mind you should never email us your credit card number as email is not secure.
